Congratulations to DEGANZ member Stella Reid for winning the 2026 Aotearoa Music Award for Te Taumata o te Ataata Best Music Video Content with ‘Scared Old Men‘ by Dick Move!

Despite the title, the song is not about men, but rather yells at the violent and decaying patriarchal systems that shape the world through fear, control, and suppression. The music video visualises the song’s relentless and exhausting anger by portraying the band’s lead singer as a cleaner, grinding away to clean up the mess of the unphased masked men surrounding her.

When accepting the award, Stella said,

Over the last few years, I’ve started to get a bit scared of the old men. And it’s a bit difficult to remember that they are scared. [Dick Move] remind me to keep fighting the fight and that the fight is fun.
