Directed by Matthew Saville and edited by DEGANZ member Peter Roberts, Juniper has been invited to screen at the 2023 Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) in the festival’s World Cinema Now selection.

Juniper has struck a chord with audiences, offering an intimate insight into the relationship between a troubled teen with his equally troubled grandmother. Starring academy-nominated actress Charlotte Rampling, the pair clash as Sam must care for his cantankerous grandmother. Yet, with their time spent together, they find unexpected common ground.

PSIFF is one of the largest festivals in North America and has garnered a reputation for being the starting point for campaign trails leading to the Academy Awards.

Congratulations to Peter and the rest of the team on the exciting news!

Directed by Lula Cucchiara (DEGANZ) and edited by Anatasia Doniants with assistant editor Shailesh Prajapati (DEGANZ), Fiona Clark: Unafraid is now available to watch on NZ Film On Demand.

The feature documentary follows Fiona Clark, one of Aotearoa’s most renowned and radical photographers as she reveals the stories behind her work. Fiona is celebrated for capturing portraits of the LGBTQIA+ community in the 1970s. Her work gave visibility and voices to the socially marginalised and challenged prejudices then commonplace in mainstream society.

Since premiering at the 2021 Whānau Mārama New Zealand International Film Festival, the film has screened at In the Shade Film Festival and Inside Out 2SLGBTQ+ Film Festival Toronto in 2022. It was also showcased at the 2020 Cannes Docs-in-Progress, where it received high praise.

After two critically acclaimed seasons, Educators is back for a third season. Directed by DEGANZ member Jesse Griffin, the show stars co-creators Jackie van Beek (DEGANZ) and Jonny Brugh.

The comedy sitcom follows the hilariously inept teachers in charge of educating the next generation. Set behind the scenes of a typical New Zealand secondary school, the teaching staff is made up of local comedy legends, including Kura Forrester and Rick Donald. Primarily unscripted and improvised, the entire cast’s comedy strengths are on full display.

The show first aired in 2019 with the support of NZOA and has since won the Bronze World Medal in the 2020 New York Festival Streaming Comedy category. It also received nominations for the 2021 NZTV Awards for Best Comedy Series and the 2019 Huawei Mate30 Pro New Zealand Television Awards for Best Web Series.
