Arora Selected for PASC’s Episode One Redux

Writer/director Pulkit Arora (DEGANZ) and his team are one of four selected for the Pan Asian Screen Collective’s (PASC) Episode One Redux Web Series Pilot Programme. He teamed up with Matilda Boese-Wong and Carrisse Utai’i for their project titled Strange Brew.

Strange Brew’s log line:

Devoted to a craft that the world treats as a commodity, an aspiring Barista Champion seeks perfection in a cup of coffee — only to find greater meaning in its pursuit.

This is the second iteration of PASC’s pilot programme, the first running in 2022-2023. The capability-building initiative is geared towards emerging Pan-Asian practitioners with the potential to develop and deliver a high-quality web series pilot for local and international audiences. Through the programme, participants will receive up to $20,000 for series development, and up to $95,000 for production of their pilot episode. In addition to providing participants with career-boosting opportunities, the initiative aims to enhance Pan-Asian representation on screen and in key creative roles.

PASC legend and the creator and convenor of Episode One, Shuchi Kothari says about the programme,

The inaugural initiative of 2022-23 was created to move the needle, and it has. But until the needle is where it needs to be, we can’t take our hand off the dial. Especially at a time when diversity and inclusion risk being sidelined as “nice to have” instead of being integral to a healthy functioning society. If you matter, your stories matter.

Congratulations to Pulkit, team Strange Brew, and all those selected! We look forward to seeing the pilots in 2026.
